We are restoring a constitutional level of health care for more than 100,000 inmates in California’s correctional facilities. Under the direction of the Statewide Chief Nurse Executive, and in conjunction with the Statewide Emergency Medical Liaison Nurse, incumbent will assume the role as an Emergency Medical Services Liaison Nurse (EMSLN). This challenging position will be directly responsible for advising and collaborating with various community organizations and statewide CDCR institution executive staff regarding emergency medical services. Extensive travel is required.
As a liaison between numerous statewide communities and CDCR institutions, the EMSLN is directly responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing administrative and operational solutions in the emergency medical services field. Develops and routinely reviews the statement of philosophy and objectives that define the emergency medical services care provided at assigned facilities. Provides reports on administrative and operational issues in the performance of emergency services. Identifies areas of improvement needed for successful operational functions. Addresses and mediates communication concerns between the community emergency medical service providers and the institutions.
The EMSLN collaborates with communities to develop and implement EMS policies and procedures as they relate to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Responsible for informing the community and correctional facilities on the impact of institutional and community EMS policy/procedure development. Maintain involvement in local, regional, state, or national EMS organizations. At the request of the institutional Chief Executive Officer(s), routinely meet with institutional executive staff and community EMS providers to ensure compliance with the community EMS policy. Evaluates appropriateness of EMS provider care. Participates in quality assurance, educational, public relations, and research activities for the EMS systems. Upholds the standards of the State and Local EMS Agency system wide customer service and continuous quality improvement programs. Provides an overall assessment of EMS services and recommends appropriate action. Presents detailed reports to the Statewide EMSLN. Other duties as deemed necessary.
This is a Full Time Limited Term (12 months) position with the possibility of becoming permanent.
Starting Salary: $9,022/monthly
